Suno download limits, explained

What changed

Suno closed off direct audio downloads and introduced a per-plan cap. Before that, anyone could export their whole library. Now every file you take out is counted, and once the count runs out you wait for your billing date.

Suno's stated reason is that limiting downloads makes it harder to mass-export music from the platform. Whatever you make of that, the practical effect is the same for everyone: downloads are now a budget, and most people are going to hit the ceiling.

What each plan gets

The free tier is the one that surprises people. Seven is not a monthly allowance, it is the total for the life of the account. If you are on free and you have a hundred songs you care about, ninety-three of them are staying on Suno.

Does it apply to older songs?

Yes. The cap is on the act of downloading, not on when the song was made. A track you generated a year ago costs exactly the same as one you made this morning. That is what caught out people with large back catalogues who assumed their existing work was already theirs to take.

What no longer works

Bulk downloading is finished, and not just for one tool. Suno serves audio through signed URLs now, so nothing can reach the files directly. If an extension still advertises grabbing your entire library in one click, one of two things is true:

• It is broken and has not been updated. Several popular downloaders have not shipped a release since before the change and now do nothing at all, sometimes while still reporting success.
• It is recording the player. A few tools play each track and capture the audio in real time. That is lossy, takes as long as the music does, and is not the lossless file you would have got from Suno.

What you can still keep, free and unlimited

The cap covers audio. It does not cover everything else, and everything else is most of the work. Your lyrics, your style prompts, the model used, the length, the date, the play counts: none of that is limited, and all of it is readable while you browse your own library.

That matters more than it sounds. For a lot of songs, especially on a free account, the words and the prompt are the only part that will ever leave the platform. Getting them out is not a consolation prize, it is the part you cannot regenerate.

How to archive your library and export it

How to spend a download well

Once downloads are scarce the question changes from how do I get everything to which one is worth it. Three things help:

• Know the number before you click. Suno shows it on your account page, which is one page away from where you actually work. Having it in view while you browse stops the accidental spend.
• Compare the takes. Suno gives you several versions per generation, often near-identical. Picking the one with the most plays rather than the first one in the list is free and takes a second.
• Track what you already took. Downloading something you already have on disk is the most annoying way to lose one.
